NDCAWS/CASAND embraces a concept of prevention which anticipates the building of a social, cultural, and political environment which assures safety, peace, and respect for all people and promotes organizational values of equality, freedom from violence, and autonomy, and action based on those values.
Prevention activities therefore include a range of activities which intentionally and strategically promote attitudes and behaviors which are incompatible with violence and abuse, encourage healthy, non-violent relationships, articulate and expose the causes of violence, and foster the major social changes necessary to eliminate both personal and institutional violence.
