In order to build a strong effort to end violence against
women, we see it as imperative to have a strong coalition
of voices and disciplines at the table in this work. For
that reason, we have assembled various committees to
address the issues from many perspectives with various
focuses. |

Some
committees take on the organizational work of the
coalition, such as the Executive Committee, the Membership
Committee, and the Certification Committee. |
|
|
Other
committees are limited in their scope and time frames; for
example, the Legislative Committee is active during and
prior to biennial legislative sessions; the Scholarship
Committee meets to consider applications once a year.
|
|
|
Yet other
committees take on issues specific to certain services
provided, such as Batterers’ Treatment, Shelter Services,
the Supervised Visitation Network, and the Child and Youth
Advocacy Committee. |
|
|
Some
committees actually function as caucuses of members with
strong mutual concerns, such as the Rural Committee and
the Native American Forum. |
|
|
Since
education and awareness are of prime importance to the
social change necessary to stop the violence, we also have
a committee specific to publicity. |
