Subgroup D: Youth Service Workers

   

Action Steps:

1. Research and identify existing or new funding sources to increase the availability of victims’ services for youth.

Mechanism for Implementation: Community Response Task Forces

Agency Responsible: NDCAWS/CASAND Child Advocacy Committee, Children’s Caucus Board, State Health Dept. Injury Division, Youth Agencies, and Juvenile Courts 

2. Research and develop updated training protocols and opportunities for youth workers who may come in contact with victims of violence.

Mechanism for Implementation: Youth task forces on a statewide level. 

Agency Responsible: NDCAWS/CASAND Child Advocacy Committee, Youth Services Directors, Child Protective Services, and Juvenile Courts

3. Research and identify funding sources to provide more services to teen and child victims of domestic and sexual violence. 

Mechanism for Implementation: Working group/committee of agencies listed below

Agency Responsible: NDCAWS/CASAND Child Advocacy Committee, Children’s Caucus Board, Youth Correctional Center, and Division of Juvenile Services, and Mountain Plains Network for Youth

4. Seek out opportunities to collaborate with other youth service providers to provide counseling to child and teen victims of violence.

Mechanism for Implementation: Working group/committee of agencies

Agency Responsible: Youth Services Directors, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault programs

5. Seek out pro bono legal assistance for teen, children, and families who are victims of violence.

Mechanism for Implementation: Formalized task force/committee

Agency Responsible: Legal Assistance of ND, State Bar Association, CAWS/CASAND, and Juvenile Court
