Kindergarten – 6th Grade

   

Action Steps:

1. Using curricula researched and approved by the local school district, in conjunction with local domestic and sexual violence programs, implement a comprehensive violence prevention and education program for students and faculty.

Mechanism for Implementation: Student Violence Prevention Project, classroom infusion, Roughrider Conference, Transitional Programs, Local Domestic and Sexual Violence Programs

Agency Responsible: DPI, Schools, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs, Special Education Managers, CAWS/CASAND

2. Provide education on personal violence issues through youth groups. 

Mechanism for Implementation: Girl/Boy Scouts, 4H Extension Service, Church Groups, Student Violence Prevention Project

Agency Responsible: CAWS/CASAND, Prevent Child Abuse ND, local Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs, ND Conference of Churches

3. Partner with local Domestic and Sexual Violence Programs to provide education and resources on personal violence issues to coordinators of mentorship and youth companion programs.

b. Big Brother/Big Sister Programs

Mechanism for Implementation: Student Violence Prevention Project, Peer Mentor Programs, and Big Brother/Big Sister Program

Agency Responsible: CAWS/CASAND, local Domestic Violence Programs, and Schools

4. Promote a partnership with local crisis intervention programs and schools to provide programming and support to after-school programs to promote violence prevention.

Agency Responsible: Local Domestic Violence Programs, Parks and Recreation, Schools, Parent Teachers Association
