Process

August 2001 Submitted grant to CDC: Supplemental Violence Against Women, Core State Injury Surveillance and Program Development
September 2001 Received grant from CDC to begin development of State Plan
October-
December 2001
Survey was sent out to medical professionals regarding current services for domestic violence and sexual assault victims in a public health context.  Inquiry was made to agencies requesting their participation in developing the State Plan. 
January 2002 State Plan Advisory Committee Meeting; representatives from 40 agencies attended.  Representatives were divided into 3 subcommittees; education/prevention; services; and data collection/funding to:
– identify services in place and those that
  are working well
– identify gaps in services and barriers to
  achieving them
– identify action steps, strategies, or initiatives
  that eliminate gaps, barriers, and move
  toward a vision
February-May 2002

Analysis of data received at January meeting, development of a timeline to create State Plan on Violence Against Women in ND

June 2002 Formation of State Plan Steering Committee to examine the data collected at the January meeting and begin to prioritize areas to be addressed in the State Plan.
July-August 2002  State Plan Steering Committee continued to meet and further identify strategies and action steps for the issues prioritized for the State Plan on Intimate Partner Violence
September 2002  Questionnaire sent to a broad range of professionals to assess current efforts and needs in their field to improve their response to domestic violence and sexual assault.  A first draft of the State Plan was completed.

State Plan refined and reviewed by State Plan Advisory and Steering Committees 
December 2002  Publication and Dissemination of ND State Plan on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
